Referral Clicks Not Being Counted

Referral Clicks Not Being Counted

If participants report that their referral link clicks are not being tracked, check the following.

Caching / CDN

If you have a CDN (Cloudflare, etc.) or a caching plugin in front of your site, make sure the campaign pages and the referral tracking endpoint (/ref/*) are excluded from cache. Cached pages bypass the referral tracking code.

Ad Blockers

Some browser ad blockers block tracking scripts. ViralHub uses server-side redirect tracking which is generally not blocked, but confirm this with affected users.

Referral Link Format

Participants must use their unique referral link (found on their "thank you" page or in their confirmation email). Simply sharing the campaign URL without the ?ref= parameter will not credit them.

Self-Referral

A participant clicking their own referral link will not generate a referral count — this is intentional fraud prevention. The click is logged but not credited.

Cookie / Session Issues

Referrals are tracked via a cookie set when the referral link is clicked. If the referred visitor clears cookies or uses private browsing before signing up, the referral may not be attributed.
